- $250 Scholarship for successful participation (subject to Financial Aid Guidelines)
- Early access to mentoring and leadership opportunities
- First Year Learning Cohort model - Get to know your peers
- Support utilizing student services and getting connected
- Summer Orientation and access to student success workshops
- Complete 15 credits that apply towards your general education requirements
- Program is from Autumn to Spring for freshmen, "first time in college" students who have not completed English Composition or equivalent introductory college writing courses through Running Start, AP, IB, or College in the High School programs.

The AAPI THRIVE Scholars cohort program is an opportunity open to all UW Tacoma first year students, developed with the goal of supporting the Asian American, Pacific Islander, first-generation, and/or low-income student experience. Participants will be enrolled in three courses that meet graduation requirements for all UW Tacoma majors:
- Autumn Quarter, beginning September 25, 2024
- TWRT 120, Academic Writing I, Tues. and Thurs., 10:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.
- TSOC 270, Asian America, Tues. and Thurs., 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Winter Quarter, beginning January 6, 2025
- TWRT 121, Academic Writing II, Tues. and Thurs., 10:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.

New Asian American Courses Winter Quarter 2025
The first course offered on Asian American Art in the Pacific Northwest! Asian American Art with Professor Gene Wang explores the work of artists, craftspeople, and laborers of Asian descent from 1850 to the present, focusing on themes of belonging, cultural hybridity, and the politics of representation.

The Peer Success Mentors are partnering with the AAPI THRIVE project to hire additional mentors!
Known as Wayfinders, these mentors will help their peers via one-on-one appointments, study groups, and presentations on the learning strategies needed to achieve their academic goals. Contribute to creating a community of support here at UW Tacoma.

Equity & Inclusion Summer Social Justice Internship
The Summer Social Justice Internship will provide opportunities for UWT students to work with local community organizations who are doing social justice work. Interns will receive $4,000 upon completion.
