The Milgard School of Business in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Inclusion is proud to establish 10 inaugural Inclusive Excellence Student Scholarships. The University of Washington, Tacoma proudly celebrates the diversity of its student body and realizing that not everyone has equal access to funding and resources, we are committed to level the playing field, such that all our students feel equipped to explore and act on their career goals and contribute their unique talents towards creating positive change in the world.
Scholarship Description
- The scholarship will offer a one-time $1,000 award each for ten (10) qualifying applicants in each academic year.
- These funds can be used to offset tuition, books, and other school-related expenses.
Eligibility
- Any sophomore, junior, or senior enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program (12 credits per quarter) at the University of Washington Tacoma is eligible to apply.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Students already receiving other sources of financial aid may apply.
- You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are utilizing tuition-exempt benefits or if your employer provides tuition reimbursement.
Timeline
- February 01, 2023: Scholarship applications open online
- March 15, 2023: Completed applications due
- April 15, 2023: Scholarship awards announced
Scholarship Application
- Complete the online application form here.
- Upload a Statement of Purpose (500 words maximum) describing what diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice mean to you. This can incorporate your: 1) deep or lived experience of barriers faced and/or overcome; 2) your career goals and how you want to contribute your unique talents towards creating positive change in the world; 3) any volunteer or professional experience you have had in supporting diverse/ underrepresented communities(for example, registered student organizations, UW Tacoma Center for Equity and Inclusion, non-profit or community organizations, etc.); or 4) if you have not had the opportunity for such experience, please describe how you will use your education to further this important work.

Announcement of Scholarship Awards and Disbursement of Funds
- Successful scholarship recipients will be announced on April 15, 2023.
- Scholarship funds will be disbursed to the student account one week prior to the start of the 2023 Autumn Quarter.
- Successful recipients will participate in a celebration event at the end of the academic year.
