This message was sent to a subset of students at UW Tacoma. Contact the Office of the Registrar for details.
Dear Student,
Our records indicate that you need to complete the admissions requirement for World Language. The World Language requirement is typically satisfied when a student has completed two years of a single World Language in high school or college/university enrollment in a single World Language through level 102. This message will be sent out quarterly until the requirement has been met.
- If you completed language coursework to satisfy the requirement AFTER being admitted, you may still appear on this notification. Please respond to this message if you believe the requirement met.
- If you completed the requirement in high school, send your high school transcript to the Office of Admissions ASAP.
- If you are in progress to meet this requirement at another institution please provide transcripts or scores once complete to the Office of Admissions.
If you still need to make plans to complete the requirement, meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss options.
- Enroll in World Language courses at UWT
- Attend another educational institution and provide official transcripts to the Office of Admissions once coursework is complete.
- Take a College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam if you have a background in a foreign language and feel you can "test out" of this requirement. Have your scores sent to the Office of Admissions.
- Take a proficiency exam prior to applying for graduation. Spanish Proficiency is available at UW Tacoma's Office of Undergraduate Education. Other languages are availble at Seattle campus departments. You as the student are responsible for contacting and arranging the exam. Scores may be sent to reguwt@uw.edu
- If you are a native speaker of a language and it was the language in which you received instruction in school outside of the United States through the seventh grade, you may have already satisfied the requirement-please check with the Office of Admissions.
- If you wish to petition to waive this admission's requirement because of compelling circumstances, you have the right submit a Graduation Petition to your advisor who will forward to a faculty committee for consideration.
Any recent activity removing this deficiency can be verified by running a current Degree Audit Report - DARS - on your MYUW or MyPlan.
For additional information on how to submit transcripts visit the Office of Admissions.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
UW Tacoma Office of the Registrar
