The Center for Service and Leadership (CSL) Volunteer Coordinator’s primary task is to coordinate and promote the Husky Volunteers Program. A qualified candidate will have a passion for public service and confronting social issues with their peers. This student will work collaboratively with the CSL team to engage students in service, conduct trainings, and put on both one-time and ongoing service events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration
- Collect and track data for student volunteer hours for the Husky Volunteers Program.
- Meet weekly with supervisor and attend weekly CSL team meetings.
- Must work at least ten hours per week in the Center for Student Involvement Office.
Programming and Involvement
- Lead, coordinate, and promote the Husky Volunteers Program.
- Collaborate with the CSL team to plan social events as well as community building programs.
- Facilitate Orientation to Service meetings for the Husky Volunteers Program and provide Husky Volunteers advising appointments to identify the types of service they would like to engage in.
- Recruit students to the Husky Volunteers Program by working with RSOs, staff, and faculty to set-up classroom visits or RSO meeting visits.
- Assist in the promotion and success of all CSL events, initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Must be a UW Tacoma student in good standing with the university, not graduating before June 2023.
- Must be enrolled at least part-time (minimum 6 credits per quarter with the exception of summer) at time of application and throughout employment.
- Hold a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater at time of application and maintain throughout employment.
- Self-motivated and able to work both autonomously and with a team.
- Commitment to public service and empowering one’s peers.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Friendly, positive, and professional demeanor.
- Commitment to diversity and working with individuals from all backgrounds and identities.
- Exceptional organization and administration skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive programs.
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
Preferred
- Experience teaching, coaching or facilitating.
- Experience leading volunteer groups, or connections with local non-profit organizations.
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
COMPENSATION
$14.49 per hour @ 15 hours per week*
*Specific work and office hours built around your academic schedule.
APPOINTMENT PERIOD
Regular work hours begin in September 2022 (some summer training will be required).
Position concludes on June 9, 2023.

The Center for Service and Leadership (CSL) Outreach Coordinator should have a passion for creating a culture of service and leadership at UW Tacoma. They should be highly skilled communicating their values both digitally and in written formats. This position is responsible for supporting fellow student staff and their programs regarding all outward-facing communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administration
- Provide guidance to the CSL team regarding communications strategies and marketing for their events and programs.
- Design marketing materials for CSL events and programs.
- Draft, distribute, and pitch news releases, media alerts, and other stories regarding the CSL.
- Create and support face-to-face outreach events and strategies for the CSL team.
- Plan and write a monthly eNewsletter, maintain social media presence, and submit edits for the CSL website regularly.
- Update the UW Tacoma calendar with all CSL events.
- Create a social media engagement plan and execute a social media calendar for CSL accounts.
- Meet weekly with supervisor and attend weekly CSL team meetings.
- Must work at least ten hours per week in the Center for Student Involvement Office.
Event Assistance
- Assist in the set-up, tear-down, and staffing of CSL events, including the moving of furniture (tables, chairs, etc.) and equipment.
- Assist in any other event-related services the CSL staff may require, this may include event facilitation.

- Knowledge of HTML, copywriting, and graphic design.
- Academic coursework in communications, marketing, or public relations.
- Maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

The Center for Service and Leadership (CSL) Leadership Coordinator’s primary task is to coordinate and promote leadership development within the CSL’s programs and events. A qualified candidate will have a passion for learning both in and out of the classroom, as well as a motivation to share this passion with others. The Leadership Coordinator will be responsible for promoting the personal and professional development of fellow students and will work closely with the CSL Volunteer Coordinator to do so.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programming and Involvement
- Engage students in service and advocacy opportunities throughout Tacoma, Pierce County, and our surrounding communities.
- In conjunction with the CSL Volunteer Coordinator, plan and coordinate leadership and service socials, events, and opportunities.
- Assist the CSL Volunteer Coordinator in the planning and promotion of the Husky Volunteers Program.
- Facilitate leadership programs, events, and workshops. Work with the Civic Engagement Specialist, Director of Student Involvement, and Residence Life staff to facilitate a Leadership Living and Learning Community (LLC) in Court 17.
