The “Achieving Change in our Communities for Equity and Student Success (ACCESS) in STEM” program
recruits talented students, primarily with low income or underrepresented backgrounds, to study one of the University of Washington Tacoma's STEM majors, and seeks to support their retention and
academic success by providing focused mentoring, a living learning community, course-based
undergraduate research experiences, and two years of targeted scholarship support.
This project was funded by NSF Scholarships in STEM Award #1741595 and #2130239 (Directorate for Education & Human Resources, Division of Undergraduate Education)
You can learn more in these videos with our program director, EC Cline:
What are our goals?

- Provide extra services through one-on-one mentoring, weekly/bi-weekly workshops, and connecting scholars to on/off campus networking events.
- Create a living-learning community by encouraging scholars to live in campus housing with easily accessible extra-curricular activities.
