If you have been accepted at UW Tacoma, it may be possible to defer your application to a future quarter. If a deferment is granted, you will not need to complete a new application or pay another application fee.
Guidelines
- Deferments are granted for up to four quarters from the term of acceptance. You must have been offered admission and must submit the deferral request form no later than the 1st day of the quarter of your original acceptance. Requests submitted after the 1st day of the quarter initially applied for will be denied.
- Deferments are not guaranteed. Please communicate clearly why you are unable to attend the term you were accepted, and why the university should be confident you will enroll in the future.
- Deferments will only be granted once. Students who previously requested and received approval to update their application quarter will have to complete a new application for admission.
You will be required to sign in with your applicant status portal username and password.
If the deferment is granted, you will not need to submit another admissions application or fee. If you have already paid your New Student Enrollment and Orientation Fee (NSEOF) when the deferment is granted, we will transfer your NSEOF to the quarter requested in this form.
If your deferment is denied and you still want to be considered for admission for a future quarter, you must submit a new application and processing fee (most of the information from your previous online application will be retained, so you won't have to retype many answers). You will need to provide updated transcripts and any updated supporting documentation as required by academic programs.
