Making an impact on Asian-American and Pacific Islander students and those who support them
The UW Tacoma Asian American Pacific Islander (AA&PI) Impact Endowment has recently been established through the generosity of UW Tacoma’s Vice Chancellor for Information Technology and CIO, Patrick Pow, and his family. The Pows are passionate about leveling the educational playing field and ensuring access to opportunities for AA&PI students and future generations—and to those who support them.
UW Tacoma is a federally-designated Asian American / Native American / Pacific Islander-serving institution with 22% of its students being Asian American or Pacific Islander. The Pows hope to inspire current and future AA&PI generations, and other students supported by this permanent fund, to pay it forward and positively serve and impact our region and its diverse communities.
The AA&PI Endowment, managed by UW Tacoma’s Office of Equity and Inclusion, works to support these purposes: student support and scholarships; faculty professional development; and programming encouraging civic engagement, internships, health equity, intergenerational connections and social mobility.
