What is the situation?
You receive a call, email or letter telling you a bomb has been placed on campus.
What should I do?
If it is a telephoned threat:
- Attempt to get as much information as possible about the caller (male or female, accent, etc.).
- Try to get the exact location where the bomb has been planted, or is going to be planted.
- Listen for any background noise that may indicate the location of the caller.
- Use the Bomb Threat Checklist below to capture as much information as possible.
- Report it immediately to the Tacoma Police Department at 9-1-1.
If the threat comes by email or letter:
- Report it immediately to the Tacoma Police Department at 9-1-1.
If you find a device:
- Do not touch the device in any way. Evacuate and seal off the area using building evacuation procedures.
- Call Tacoma Police and Campus Safety, indicating that a device has been found.
