What is the situation?
The University of Washington is committed to providing a safe, healthful workplace that is free from violence or threats of violence.
Violent behavior is often preceded by signs that indicate a person is not coping well. Being familiar with these signs of distress can alert you to a problem so that it can be addressed as early as possible.
Violent or threatening behavior can include: physical acts, oral or written statements, harassing email messages, harassing telephone calls, gestures and expressions or behaviors such as stalking.
What should I do?
If you think there is a potential threat, tell your supervisor and report it to the Violence Prevention & Response Team at 253-692-SAFE. If the threat is urgent, call 9-1-1 first or contact Campus Safety at 253-692-4416.
