Chuck Sloane
University Ombud
Chuck Sloane serves as the University Ombud. Chuck received his master of science degree in clinical psychology from Pacific University and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Washington. Chuck previously worked as a Deputy Ombudsman for King County and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Chuck really enjoys applying his varied professional experiences to help students, staff, and faculty members, be successful in the midst of challenging work situations. On the weekends, Chuck can usually be found at a local park with his wife Karen, kids -- Makhai & June, and their cartoonishly cute sheepdog “Yeti.”

Ashley J. Davis
Associate Ombud
Ashley Jolice Davis serves as an Associate Ombud. Ashley received her J. D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University. Ashley previously spent several years as a mediator/case manager and trainer at the Center for Conflict Resolution in her hometown Chicago, and most recently worked at Arizona State University as Senior Coordinator in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. She is excited to further explore and apply the interdisciplinary aspects of organizational conflict management, and engage with community members at each of the UW campuses. In her time outside the office, Ashley enjoys yoga, staying up to date on current events, tasting new dishes, and an occasional scenic drive.

Ruthy Kohorn Rosenberg
Associate Ombud
Ruthy Kohorn Rosenberg serves as an Associate Ombud. Ruthy received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, certificate of non-profit management from Case Western Reserve University and her Bachelor of Arts from Smith College. Ruthy previously worked as the University Ombudsperson at Brown University. She is delighted to be working with the UW community. Ruthy has found a passion for quilting in the last few years, which allows her to use a part of her brain that is underdeveloped. When not quilting she is outdoors and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her dog, Dewey.

Maggie Counihan
Ombuds Coordinator
Maggie Counihan serves as the Ombuds Coordinator. Maggie received her master of science degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from the University of Oregon and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Western Washington University. Maggie previously worked as a Project Coordinator at The Ruckelshaus Center. When not working she loves making pottery, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

What is an organizational ombud?
The Ombud in the Office of the Ombud at the University of Washington operate as organizational ombud and are members of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA). IOA members serve in corporations, higher educational and k-12 institutions, non-profit organizations, government entities, and non-government organizations around the world. Members of our team meet regularly with other IOA members, go to workshops, and attend an annual international conference with the purpose of networking and improving our skills to better serve the UW community.
