The Center for Equity & Inclusion's Umoja Celebration is an opportunity to recognize the diverse student populations graduating from the University of Washington Tacoma. While this celebration is open to all graduating students we highly encourage our students from non-traditional backgrounds, but not limited to our students of color, LGBTQ students, first generation, adult students, graduate students, students with disabilities, formerly-incarcerated students, students who are veterans and/or are military-affiliated, and more.
Umoja, one of the seven principles of Kwanza, is a Kiswahili word meaning unity. The Umoja Celebration is our time to gather, rejoice in our collective accomplishments, reflect on our experiences, and recommit ourselves to our ancestors, friends, family and community. Umoja demonstrates the power that results from unity and our ability to provide strength to one another and to encourage change within our world and our-selves.
Join us as we celebrate our graduates!
We invite all members of the community including loved ones of our graduates to attend this memorable event!
If you are a graduating student and would like to participate in the Umoja Celebration, please register below.
