The Campus Community Safety Advisory Committee will focus on safety, security, preparation issues on the UW Tacoma campus, and integrating into the overall University of Washington Emergency Preparedness and workplace safety planning. If, in the judgment of the Committee, changes in policies or procedures are necessary, it is the responsibility of the Committee to recommend such to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and Chancellor of the University of Washington Tacoma.
The Committee is not empowered to change or modify state law, University Ordinance, contracts with duly recognized bargaining units, or Department policies and procedures.
Specifically, the committee will:

Review campus administrative policies, practices, and materials with a focus on transparency, enhancing community safety and ensuring mechanisms are in place that prevent potential bias.

Introduce new ideas to enhance existing administrative policies and practices.

Provide on-going guidance for establishing platforms for receiving feedback from and communicating with UW Tacoma students, staff and faculty.

Collect feedback from the UW Tacoma campus community regarding functional areas of safety and well-being services.

Advise the Chancellor on trends, developments or national best practices that could support and enhance a safe, supportive, and welcoming culture on campus.

Meet quarterly with the Chancellor to discuss issues, concerns, and progress on our commitment to creating a safe campus.

Submit a brief annual report to the Chancellor of the University of Washington Tacoma, summarizing the work of the Advisory Committee, as well as any observations, concerns, or future plans.
