Name: Ana Marie Alameda
Unit: Office of the Registrar
Hobby: I love houseplants, so I find joy in caring for them and looking for new leaves, especially on baby cuttings that I’ve swapped with family and friends. On the weekends, I enjoy fishing trips at nearby lakes with my husband and two sons, or just going for a ride in our fishing boat.
Favorite Place on UW Tacoma campus and Why: The Gillenwater Plaza is my favorite spot on campus, particularly on warm, sunny days. The central location makes it the perfect meeting place to get together and catch up with colleagues, or to spend my lunch hour listening to podcasts while people-watching (that is, if you can find an open bench. It is definitely a popular landmark on campus).
Nominated By: Andrea Coker-Anderson
Ana Marie Alameda has been accurately called the Registrar’s Office Goodwill Ambassador and I can think of no better way to describe how she represents our office and interacts with our campus in her role as Technology and Systems Specialist. For her continued excellent work – before and during our time of remote work - I happily nominate her for the Student Affairs Spotlight recognition.
Many of you know Ana Marie as our campus expert on all things scheduling and the software UW uses, 25Live. Her excellent work leading our campus’ implementation and expansion of this software has UW Tacoma well ahead of the other two campuses in innovative use of 25Live. The project she did during our quarters of remote learning that allowed students to schedule study space on campus is an example of this innovation.
During the past year, Ana Marie has assumed an expanded role in our office with two important projects: Website Management/Drupal conversion and General Catalog. Ana Marie’s dedication to the Drupal 8 conversion meant that the Office of the Registrar was one of the early offices to make this important transition. For many years we have planned for a tri-campus General Catalog, leveraging the existing Curriculum Management software tool used at UW for ease in updates and to avoid duplication. Ana Marie’s oversight has been instrumental in our campus’s success with this project. We are excited to see the results of her excellent work when we go live on August 13th.
UW Tacoma and the Office of the Registrar are lucky that Ana Marie Alameda is in the role of Technology and Systems Specialist!
