Name: Stephanie Beall
Unit: Office of the Registrar
Hobby: At the beginning of the pandemic, I taught myself to do clay sculpting and created a (ball-jointed/Barbie-like) doll. Recently, I made a miniature library from a kit with lighting. See photo below…
Favorite Place on UW Tacoma campus and Why: I love walking the Prairie Line Trail. It’s the best area on campus rejuvenate on a break or to get in some steps looking at nature, art and points of interest that mark Tacoma’s history.
Nominated by: Andrea Coker-Anderson
Nomination:
I nominate Stephanie Beall for the Student Affairs Spotlight in recognition of her many years of service to UW Tacoma and in particular the effort by Stephanie (and her team Renee, Thomas and Jeffrey) in transforming our records management practices in the Office of the Registrar. Stephanie holds the role of Operations Specialists which means she has oversight of our front desk staff who provide direct service to students, faculty and staff along with records management tasks and Returning and Non-Matriculated students processes.
During our pandemic work, Stephanie Beall has been instrumental in our change to electronic documents, creating online forms and fillable pdfs for students to use, while creating a structure to manage these records as we are required to by UW policy and Washington state law.
Stephanie initiated a complete archival of our 13 file cabinets of student records in 2020. The final 19 boxes of the 24 total, 4300 files, all of which were sorted by admissions year, alphabetized, reviewed for accuracy and logged in SIS were picked up last week for their final destination at UW Seattle’s Records Center.
Records Management is an important aspect of a Registrar’s Office and Stephanie’s oversight has been exceptional through the years. I celebrate this MAJOR achievement for our office and applaud Stephanie’s effort and persistence to accomplish this goal.
Student Affairs Mission
Student Affairs champions holistic learning and success for UW Tacoma students. We remove barriers for students, engage them as partners to create an inclusive campus community and equip them for lives and careers that have meaning and impact.
