UW Tacoma graduate programs require the general test that consists of three sections that measure abilities in analytical, quantitative and verbal skills.
Tests are computerized and appointments are required. UW Tacoma does not administer the tests.
The cost for the GRE is $205; the GMAT is $275. Payment is required when test appointments are made. In some instances, students eligible for financial aid may obtain a test fee waiver. Contact Financial Aid at uwtfa@uw.edu or 253-692-4374 for further information.
The test is timed and takes three to four hours.
Unofficial scores are available on the day of testing (except the writing score). Complete official scores are mailed to you and to the institutions you designate approximately two weeks after testing.
Scores are valid for five years. Should you take the test more than once, all scores are reported. Some programs may accept scores older than five years. Contact the individual program for more information.
The UW Tacoma Library has test preparation books for the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT available for checkout or in-library reference use. Career Development and Education has free informational booklets on the GRE and LSAT. In addition, self-study books are available at larger bookstores and resources are suggested on the GRE and GMAT websites.
There are no minimum test scores. Each applicant is considered on the basis of his or her complete application packet. Competitive scores are determined by each year's applicant pool and cannot be predicted in advance of the application deadlines. Contact the individual program for more information.
