Typically, students join the Program in the autumn quarter of their sophomore or junior year and take courses sequentially, starting with the introductory TGH 300 Re-orienting the Global (2 credits) or TGH 203 Themes in Global Honors (5 credits).
While you must be enrolled at UWT before joining Global Honors, we understand you may not have received confirmation of UWT admission at the time of applying to Global Honors. We therefore welcome you to apply to the Program before receiving this confirmation, but please note tentative admission to Global Honors does not in any way equate to admission to UWT or any other UWT program.
*If the above timeline does not reflect your current time to degree, please contact IIGE Administrative Specialist Lan Allison (lan05@uw.edu) to discuss alternative start dates.
International Students:
International students avail of all of the same IIGE benefits as domestic students, including the Global Scholar Award of up to $1000. If cultural exchange is an important goal during your time in the United States and at UW Tacoma, Global Honors represents an excellent opportunity to connect with diverse classmates and faculty.
Time to completion for students in Global Honors is based on individual student class standing, however, most students typically complete the program in two years. In order to make sure you are on track to complete all requirements for the Minor in Global Engagement or one of our alternative pathways, it is important to plan ahead and meet with both your major advisor and the IIGE academic advisor, Lan Allison, (lan05@uw.edu), as early as possible.
