Global Affairs Fund
The Global Affairs Fund is used to support the continued expansion of international education and global learning opportunities at UW Tacoma. These funds are used at the discretion of the Executive Director to support the ongoing operations of the Office of Global Affairs, including the development of international partnerships and implementation of innovative programming and initiatives, such as our Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Fellows program which provides opportunities for global learning without the need to travel.
Global Learning Without Travel
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) connects faculty and their classes in two or more countries. Students from both countries collaborate on assignments, class projects, or presentations and acquire valuable intercultural communications skills in the process. This initiative provides opportunities for global learning and international engagement for students who may be limited in their ability to travel abroad while studying at UW Tacoma. Participation in COIL at UW Tacoma promotes academic success and employability in an increasingly globally-connected job market. Donations to the Global Affairs Fund can be used to support this innovative pedagogy by providing stipends to faculty who participate in our Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Fellows program.
