We love working with our local law-related community! Below you will find opportunities to support our students. If you would like to support the Legal Pathways program but don’t see an opportunity that is the right fit for you, feel free to reach out to us directly at lpathway@uw.edu
Mentorship Opportunities:
Mentorship can make all the difference in a student’s life. If you are interested in serving as a mentor through our Legal Pathways Fellows program or our Legal Pathways Mentorship Program, you can learn more here.
Informational Interview Opportunities:
Our students are eager to learn more about law and law-related careers and frequently request to be connected with legal professionals to do short information interviews. These can happen remotely or in person and generally last between 30 - 60 minutes. We maintain a list of local attorneys, paralegals, judges, court personnel, and other law-related professionals willing to speak to students on an ad hoc basis (but we will never ask more than once per quarter!).
Speaking Opportunities:
We host speakers on a regular basis as a part of our program. Some speaking engagements are small and primarily oriented towards our students, in the style of lunch-and-learns about areas of practice or experience. Other speaking needs include presenters for our Law for the People series or Exploring the Issues series, which attract members of both the on and off campus community.
Giving Opportunities:
Historically, the legal profession has been one of the least diverse professions in the nation. It continues to be so, according to a recent survey produced by the American Bar Association. The UW Tacoma Legal Pathways program is working to help change that. Consider making a thoughtful and generous gift to the Legal Pathways program to support our students in pursing law-related careers.

Student's Voice

“The Legal Pathways Fellows has given me confidence in studying for the rigorous LSAT, something that last year felt impossible. Navigating my way to law school alone was an uphill battle, but now I am confident that I will make it. I have the opportunity to meet with mentors in my field of interest, giving me a chance for support and guidance. I feel like every step in the program has been preparing me for the person I want to be.”
