Law for the People is a monthly community education program open to the public hosted by the University of Washington Tacoma in partnership with Seattle University School of Law, University of Washington School of Law, and community partners. The program provides a series of free, virtual presentations on contemporary topics impacting the lives of Washingtonians to support Washington residents to learn about the law and their legal rights in a way that is accessible to non-lawyers.
The series provides practical information about a range of topics including the Fourth Amendment, tenant rights, understanding eligibility for benefits, and family law. Faculty include judges, seasoned attorneys, law professors, and other legal professionals.
All sessions will be held virtually on the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Registration is required.
Please note that Law for the People is an informational series only and cannot address individual legal questions or offer representation. Legal resources, including sample letters, legal forms, and guides to help Washingtonians prepare for court appearances, can be found on the Washington legal help website at WashingtonLawHelp.org.
