Distinguished Community Engagement Award
The Distinguished Community Engagement Award was created in 2013. Given annually, the award recognizes the important and innovative community-engaged and community-based work by faculty at the University of Washington Tacoma. Such work is based on an ethic of mutual benefit in which both the community partner and/or public and the university, its faculty, and/or its students benefit in ways not possible without the partnership. This work may be short or long term and may be with a single or multiple partners, and should have been active within the past three years. It may be focused on teaching and learning, research, policy, citizenship building, creative work, or community building.
Gift of Service Award
The award, given to a UW Tacoma graduating student, provides an opportunity to give to the community through philanthropy. The student will select a University of Washington Tacoma approved non-religious charity for a one-time award. In addition, the student will receive an award equivalent to the philanthropic gift.
Chancellor's Student Civic Leadership Awards
As a Washington Campus Coalition for the Public Good member institution, we have the opportunity to recognize and award two of our student civic leaders. The Chancellor's Student Civic Leader Award recognizes civically engaged and passionate students who are dedicated to making a difference on their campuses and in their communities.
Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellowship Award
The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long program that recognizes and supports student public problem solvers at institutions that collaborate with Campus Compact like the University of Washington Tacoma. Fellows are nominated by their chancellor based on their potential for public leadership and their work with communities. Campus Compact provides students with opportunities to nurture their assets and help them develop strategies for social change.
Engaged Scholarship
The UW Tacoma Office of Community Partnerships (OCP) is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Engaged Scholarship Award. At OCP, we highly value the creation of a culture that supports and recognizes engaged scholarship on our campus. We believe that the commitment of our faculty to impactful community engagement deserves acknowledgment.
