Submitting Your Certification Request
Before every Quarter
Steps to Use Your VA Educational Benefits
If you’re using VA educational benefits, please follow these steps:
1. Submit Required Documents
Turn in all necessary documents to the VMRC. If you receive VA benefits, tuition assistance, or are eligible for Washington State Tuition Waivers for veterans, spouses, or dependents, please contact us to confirm that all required documentation has been received.
2. Meet with an Advisor
Schedule a meeting with an advisor to register for your classes.
3. Request Certification
To request certification for your VA education benefits, follow the online certification link at the bottom of this page. This applies to all benefit chapters. Please note that we cannot accept requests via email. Not submitting your Quarterly Certification Request may delay your monthly housing allowance and book stipends.
Important Reminder:
All students using VA education benefits must complete a Quarterly Certification Request after registering for classes. This applies to those enrolling in Tacoma campus classes. If you're attending courses at a UW sister campus, you'll need a parent letter signed by a UW Tacoma School Certifying Official (SCO) to authorize your attendance there. Once our SCOs verify your program and courses, you will receive a confirmation email from VAOnce.
To complete your request, log in using your UW NetID, fill out the required fields on the Quarterly Certification Request webform, and submit your schedule. This applies to all benefit chapters.
Note: If you've already submitted a Certification Request and need to update your schedule, please edit your existing request instead of creating a new one.
Before You Register, Don’t Forget:
- Pay or Defer Your $225 New Student Enrollment & Orientation Fee (NSEOF)
- Provide Your Immunization Verification Record
You won’t be able to register if these steps aren’t completed. For more information, please contact the Office of the Registrar.
